David Manks, Registered Psychologist and Psychotherapist

David is a Registered Psychologist and trained contemporary in-depth Psychotherapist.

David is open, relaxed and brings personal warmth to his practice. He places emphasis upon deep empathic listening in order to understand you and your particular circumstances. He is gentle in nature, and passionate about his professional life. While taking your struggles and distress seriously, he has an easy going manner, and a keen sense of humour.

Prior to establishing his own practice, David was an Associate Psychologist with Crookes Graham Psychology in East Geelong and Werribee. Before becoming a psychologist, David had over 25 years experience working with individuals, couples, families and groups within a variety of contexts. This included 17 years as chaplain to the Geelong Hospital (now University Hospital) Barwon Health, and St John of God Hospital Geelong. He was appointed the inaugural Pastoral Care Coordinator, Barwon Health, and established the Barwon Health Centre for Clinical Pastoral Education and appointed as its inaugural Director.

David loves spending time with family and friends, enjoys good food and wine, is a keen reader, appreciates a range of music, , tries to regularly exercise for the good of his health, is a Cats supporter and member, and has a passion for historic vehicles.

Academic Qualifications

• Bachelor of Theology (Melbourne College of Divinity / Melbourne University, 1978)

• Graduate Diploma in Pastoral Studies (Melbourne College of Divinity / Melbourne University, 1989)

• Master of Ministry (Melbourne College of Divinity / Melbourne University, 2005)

• Graduate Diploma of Psychology (Monash University, 2007)

• Since graduating, David has undertaken many courses and workshops to develop his particular areas of expertise.
